Level II Teaching Assistant Certificate

Individuals must have one year of full-time experience in a New York State public or private school as a teaching assistant while holding a valid New York State Teaching Assistant Level I Certificate.

Level III Teaching Assistant Certificate

Individuals must have:

• One year of full-time experience in a New York State public or private school as a teaching assistant while holding a valid New York State Teaching Assistant Level I or Level II certificate,

OR

• One year of full-time experience as a classroom teacher in a New York State public or private school while holding and working under a valid New York State classroom teaching certificate.

Examples of Unacceptable Experiences

• Classroom teacher without a valid New York State classroom teaching certificate
• Teacher aide
• Teaching assistant experience outside New York State
• Teaching assistant experience without a valid New York State teaching assistant certificate
• Teaching assistant experience with New York State classroom teaching certificate
