Temporary Coaching License 2nd-4th Renewal

If an individual holds a valid New York State Teaching, School Leader, or Pupil Personnel Service certificate they may be appointed (without a valid Coaching certificate) as a temporary coach. If you are appointed as a temporary coach by a school, you do not need to apply for a coaching license or submit documentation to your NYSED TEACH account. Coaching-related documents should be monitored at the local level and not sent to NYSED. Documents that are sent to NYSED will not be uploaded to the TEACH account.

If the last coaching license you held was the Temporary 1st Renewal, or if you held one or two 2nd-4th Renewals, and you do not meet the requirements for theÌýProfessional CoachingÌýlicense, this is your next level for theÌýsame sport.

You have two pathway options to choose from, Individual Evaluation and National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The coaching coursework completed is specific to the pathway you select. Please review the pathway charts for information on required pathway-specific coursework to assist you in determining the pathway you would like to apply in.

Note:ÌýApplicants are highly encouraged to stay in the coursework pathway that you previously chose for your first Temporary 2nd-4th Renewal, for all subsequent applications in that same sport.
